Walls of the World

Journey to the old world. Stroll down a quiet Mediterranean street and admire the weathered buildings that have endured for centuries. Absorb the layers of history and waves of civilization that made the place what it is today. Surfaces, worn by the passage of time, are enriched by nature’s palette. These are wall sculptures created from real images from real places; frozen-in-time architectural details that can be read like museum artifacts. There is beauty where man, nature and time converge. These “fragments” capture that in-the-moment beauty like a snapshot, representing not just an edifice, but also the character of the place where it exists. It’s about sharing the charm and elegance of historic architecture, the mellowing effects of time and nature, and the love of travel and exploration.

Don't miss the Show!

Just a quick reminder to come see my latest work at The Artist Project next weekend at the Better Living Building on the CNE grounds.  I am just one of about 280 artists who are showing their latest work, so it makes a great outing for Friday, Saturday or Sunday

Tickets can be purchased at the door or online if you want to avoid a lineup.  We have been advised that there are some other events going on in the area that weekend, so give yourself some extra time to get there.

Walls of the World

Dean Jackson – Artist’s Statement

My work is driven by a search for visual character in the places I visit, particularly within the historic towns and cities of Mediterranean Europe. I am drawn to old walls—surfaces that hold the weight of time, bearing textures, patinas, and architectural details shaped by generations. These walls speak. They carry embedded stories of culture, history, and human presence. When one resonates with me, I isolate a fragment and hand-carve it from rigid signboard, not just to replicate the edifice, but to honor the legacy that formed it. Through this process, I aim to share the sense of place, to offer a tangible connection to distant histories, and to preserve the silent narratives that make each location in the world unique.
